FDCM supplies a range of food and feed grade raw materials relevant to poultry nutrition: dairy proteins (WPC 80, skimmed milk powder, sodium caseinate, acid casein), plant proteins (pea protein isolate, soy protein isolate), energy carriers (dextrose monohydrate), binders (native potato starch), acidifiers (citric acid anhydrous), stabilisers (xanthan gum), and more. All products are EU feed-grade certified under Regulation (EC) 68/2013 (Catalogue of Feed Materials) and come with full documentation including CoA, SDS, and allergen statements.
Dairy proteins — particularly skimmed milk powder and WPC 80 — have been the gold standard in broiler and turkey starter diets for decades. Key benefits: (1) Superior amino acid digestibility (AADC >90%) in young birds with underdeveloped digestive capacity; (2) Lactose provides prebiotic effect and supports beneficial gut microbiome seeding; (3) High palatability increases feed intake in the critical first 7 days; (4) Milk proteins reduce post-hatch stress and improve early body weight gain by 3–8% vs grain-only diets.
Recommended inclusion: 2–5% in broiler prestarter (0–7 days) and 2–3% in starter (7–14 days). At 3% inclusion, WPC 80 contributes approximately 24 g protein/kg diet. Key formulation point: WPC 80 has a lysine:energy ratio of ~5.2 g Lys/MJ ME — highly favourable for early broiler diets. It can partially replace fishmeal (1 kg WPC 80 ≈ 1.2 kg fishmeal in protein equivalence) without significant reformulation of the amino acid matrix.
Partially — but with important caveats. Pea protein isolate (≥85% protein) has good digestibility in broilers (AADC ~85% for lysine vs ~92% for milk proteins). However: (1) Methionine is critically limiting in pea protein — supplement 0.3–0.5% DL-methionine when including >5%; (2) Anti-nutritional factors (ANF) are lower in isolate than concentrate — use isolate grade for poultry; (3) Palatability of plant proteins is lower than dairy in young birds. Recommended approach: partial replacement (50–70% of dairy protein) in grower diets, full replacement only in finisher with synthetic AA supplementation.
Citric acid (E330 food / E574 feed) is a multifunctional organic acid in poultry nutrition: (1) Gut acidification — lowers gastric pH to 2.5–3.5, activates pepsinogen, improves protein digestion; (2) Antimicrobial — inhibits Salmonella, Campylobacter and Clostridium perfringens at 0.5–2% inclusion; (3) Phytase synergy — chelates mineral ions, improving phytase enzyme activity and phosphorus bioavailability by 10–15%; (4) Feed preservation — inhibits mould growth in pelleted feed during storage. Most effective at 0.5–1.5% in combination with other organic acids (formic, lactic, propionic).
Native potato starch improves Pellet Durability Index (PDI) by 5–10 percentage points when included at 1–3% in the diet. Mechanism: during conditioning at 80–95°C with steam, potato starch granules swell and gelatinise, forming a viscous matrix that binds feed particles. On cooling, the gel sets into a cohesive structure. Potato starch's superior performance vs other starches is due to: (1) Lower gelatinisation onset temperature (58°C) vs corn (62°C) — activates at lower conditioning temps; (2) Higher peak viscosity (≥2800 cP RVA) — stronger binding matrix; (3) No protein or lipid contamination — clean binding without affecting nutritional composition.
Every delivery from FDCM includes: (1) Certificate of Analysis (CoA) — product-specific, covering protein content (Kjeldahl/HPLC), moisture, fat, ash, microbiological parameters and heavy metals; (2) Safety Data Sheet (SDS) per REACH Regulation; (3) Technical Data Sheet (TDS); (4) Allergen Statement — covering all 14 EU mandatory allergens; (5) Non-GMO Declaration where applicable; (6) Feed material registration number per EU Reg 68/2013 Catalogue. Documents available before order for qualification and QA purposes.
Yes — all feed materials supplied by FDCM comply with EU Regulation (EC) No 68/2013 on the Catalogue of Feed Materials, which defines permitted feed ingredients in the EU. Each product has the appropriate catalogue listing number. Dairy materials comply additionally with Regulation (EC) 853/2004 (food of animal origin hygiene). All products are manufactured in EU-approved establishments under HACCP. CoA confirms compliance with maximum contaminant levels per Directive 2002/32/EC.

Yes — most FDCM products are dual-certified for both food (EU food safety legislation) and feed (EU Regulation 68/2013) applications. This is documented in the CoA and product specification. Products with dual certification: WPC 80, skimmed milk powder, sodium caseinate, acid casein, dextrose monohydrate, native potato starch, citric acid anhydrous, xanthan gum. Key advantage for customers who produce both feed and food products — single supplier, single logistics relationship, identical quality documentation.
Liquid prestarter systems (LPS) are increasingly adopted in EU broiler integrations — continuous liquid feed improves first-week performance by 8–12% vs dry feeding. Xanthan gum (0.05–0.15% in LPS) prevents nutrient sedimentation over 12-hour tank cycles, ensuring uniform delivery of energy, protein and vitamins to all nipple drinker positions. It also increases viscosity, slowing passage rate and improving nutrient absorption. Additional benefit: xanthan gum at low inclusion reduces dust formation from dry feed components added to the LPS.
Pea protein isolate (≥85% protein) has significantly reduced ANF vs whole peas or concentrates — isolation process removes most trypsin inhibitors, lectins and saponins. Residual concern: phytic acid (reduces mineral absorption) — addressed with phytase enzyme supplementation (500–1000 FTU/kg). Soy protein isolate ANF are similarly reduced vs soybean meal — however, soy allergen must be declared in food-grade applications. Neither pea nor soy isolate contains gossypol, erucic acid or glucosinolates — these are concerns only for non-isolate plant protein sources.
